Thread: We're done here.

    We're done here.

We finished several final rounds and were making good headway until the Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W final where Spiro Pappas' Camaro lost control, crossed the center line behind opponent Jim Blair and made hard contact with the wall. The car burst into flames and rolled back across the track, contacting the other wall. Pappas was able to exit the car, as emergency crews responded. The car was badly damaged by the impact and fire, but Pappas is fine.
Extensive clean-up time forced NMCA officials to postpone the remaining finals, which now will be contested at Beech Bend Raceway Park May 1-3.

I'll update who's left and who has won, in a little while.

Thanks for the update Scott. I was keeping tabs with the Live Timing and I seen the run go down....then the weird MPD for Spiro and was thinking something must have happened to get accross the finish line at 33 or something mph.

Glad to hear Spiro walked away.

Spiro - Good to hear your Ok Brother!!!

Let me say it was a hell of a weekend. Great action, but I don't think I've ever experienced more brutal conditions to race in. Great job by everyone (NMCA staff, track crew, etc) for sticking with it on a weekend that was anything but normal.
