Outlaw racer Jim Blair is competing in the Nitto Tire Super Street 10.5w class this weekend with his supercharged Mustang. Blair drives the quickest blower car on 10.5w tires, running a 7.04 earlier in the year. Blair and teammate Jason Gatlin are looking to be the first supercharged car to break into the sixes possibly this weekend, and you can expect to see this Mustang at more NMCA races this year.

We noticed a couple changes on Car Craft Street Race’s Mike Fratena turbo’d f-body. In order to receive the class allowed 125lb. weight break, he’s running on a set of drag radials this weekend. This Florida based racer should have an “edge” as he’s used to the weather and track conditions down here in the Sunshine state. Expect Fratena to go some rounds.

Barb “Mom” Nesbitt is here in Bradenton with an updated paint scheme on her Camaro. The GM Performance Part NPS field is packed with cars this weekend, so she will have her work cut out for her. Expect this car to go some rounds come Sunday.

Two-time Vortech Xtreme Street champion Tony Orts showed in Bradenton this weekend with his familiar Pontiac Firebird, despite talk of him sitting this year out once his chassis certification expired in January. To our surprise, he’s on the premises with not only an updated 25.2 chassis, but also with a new bullet, a Scott Shafiroff-built big-block. You can bet he’ll be one of the top players this weekend if he can lay down a pass with the all-new combo.

One of the quickest stock suspension drag radial racers in the country is here with a new car owned by Chris Singleton. Brighton, Michigan’s Jim Filipowski is racing this clean red f-body in the Xtreme Street category in hopes to run with some of the top players. The car features a Jim-Powski Racecraft suspension and cage with big-block Chevy under the cowl and Edelbrock’s Steve Johnson tuning the sauce.

Defending BF Goodrich Tires Mean Street champ Jeff Swanson hurt his engine in testing yesterday and will not be competing at all this weekend. That comes as a blow as Swanson had a great shot of landing extra bucks in this weekend’s Mean Street Shootout.
